I am an all-around proud Jamaican with an absolute passion for the culture, heritage and history of my country, Jamaica. Most especially, I enjoy passing on Jamaica's history to others in a manner that is not only educational but also entertaining: edutaining history!
One way I try to accomplish this is through my blog, Jamaican Echoes, which takes readers on guided tours of Jamaica’s exciting past one blog post at a time. Jamaican Echoes also functions as a portal to specific local information such as our national holidays; national events occurring throughout each month; local news, radio and television links; and links to national agencies responsible for preserving and promoting the country's culture, heritage and history. Additionally, I also feature a Jamaican Proverb a week and provide a page specifically about this very important aspect of our culture.
In April 2011, I started Echoes Publishing to conceptualise, write and market innovative, affordable and attractively packaged general interest books and related products about Jamaica’s culture, heritage and history that delights, educates, entertains and inspires. 365 Days of Jamaican Wisdom will be Echoes Publishing's first publication and one that I am very passionate about for two main reasons: to get the book into the hands of all lovers of Jamaica's culture, heritage and history; and to contribute to the preservation of one aspect of Jamaica's intangible heritage - our proverbs.
As we say here in Jamaica...
WALK GOOD!!!
