Who are we?
ENCOMPASS are a collaborative production company that creates innovative, evocative and multidisciplinary artistic projects. We look to all corners of creative expression, harnessing the diverse range of talent within our ensemble to produce bold, experimental new work. Collaboration is at the heart of our process; rehearsals are hives of activity that continually aim to explore a limitless theatrical potential.
We are inspired by the world around us, seeking to destabilise its familiarity through the thoughts, visuals, words and bodies of our investigative work. Our first production will be a re-imagining of the play 'So this is What it Feels Like', a hit production which was written and premiered at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2008.
As a company we believe that to be an artist is to undertake a duty, that to create great art that reaches its fullest potential is to have compassion not only for the art itself, but for the people we create it with and for. From this ENCOMPASS has one simple goal: to entertain, educate and enrich people’s lives through our work.
Why 'Encompass'?
One meaning of the word 'encompass' alludes to a sense of achievement and accomplishment. Another meaning gives a sense of inclusion. As a collaborative company that experiments with different art forms, we believe that this word and name defines what our aims are, embodying the spirit of our manifesto.
