Third Effect is an urban photography exhibition put together by f-twentytwo. The show will run for eight days from 4 to 12 October 2012 at the Foto8 Gallery in East London.
The exhibition aims to bring together multi-disciplinary perspectives and visual approaches on the urban to generate thought-provoking insights in an exciting exhibition space. Moreover, it will be positioned as the opening event for the Urban Encounters Festival 2012 in collaboration with Tate Britain, the Centre for Urban and Community Research (CUCR), Whitechapel Gallery and other international partners.
In conjunction with the festival, f-twentytwo is also organizing a series of engaging in-house workshops and a high-profile symposium at Goldsmiths University of London. These events will bring distinguished academics and photographic practitioners together to discuss contemporary issues related to the representation of urban spaces and cultures.
Why contribute
Your contribution to f-twentytwo’s Third Effect exhibition demonstrates crucial support for noncommercial art initiatives during a period that has seen cuts to arts funding. f-twentytwo’s focus on ‘things of an urban nature’ is increasingly paramount given recent developmental shifts where more than 50% of the world’s population now claim ‘urbanite’ status. The urban is becoming a powerful area of study and requires correspondingly rich written and visual accounts, which f-twentytwo aims to create.
Apart from rallying attention from the arts community, the event has also been formatted to pique the interest of average urban dwellers, presenting them with a platform to question their own urbanite identity.
In order to successfully carry out the Third Effect exhibition we are counting on your support. Together we can make it happen!
