'Tölt': An Icelandic Horse Documentary

Reykjavik, Iceland
FUNDED

UPDATE: Follow all the latest goings on here

About the Director

Emerging film-maker and photographer Lesley Elliott has a keen eye for design and a great understanding of colour and form. Currently studying full time at Confetti Creative Institute in Nottingham, UK for a degree in Film and TV production, donations are required for the production of a documentary about Iceland and the hardy horses that call it home.

About the Film

Iceland is a wonderfully charismatic country full of folk tales, traditions and nature. Volcanoes, giesers, lava fields and trolls houses made from rocks set the scene for the main character of this documentary the Icelandic Horse. The ONLY breed brought to Iceland to survive, natural selection has played a huge role in the breeding of this hardy fellow and as a result of having no natural predators are very self assured and characterful. They are especially known in the horse world for their ability to perform an additional running technique named the Tölt, a very quick four beat walking/run where one foot is always kept to the ground, allowing for an unusually soft ride. It is known that you can drink a glass of beer while riding full speed in this gait!

Gorgeously saturated images of the landscape will compliment a slow paced, close study of these creatures that could have almost been plucked out of a myths and legends tale.

Music is being commissioned by 8mm Orchestra with possible future EP release.

Film is being shot on a Canon 550D.

All footage will be shot at various locations in Iceland, mainly the North and West cost where the horse population exceeds the human!

Post production to commence on return to UK and finished late April 2012.

After staying up all night baking cakes it was great fun selling them all to sweet-toothed students and staff yesterday at Confetti Insitute where I'm currently studying. We managed to raise an extra £50 for the pot! Once I add that here it will bump the project £1 over half way YES! With just over a week to go we're coming Ito the home stretch and it feels fantastic!

A huge thank you to all who have supported thus far, this project really wouldn't have been paid possible without you!

New runners come up the rear!

This project has now gone INTERNATIONAL! With a very genourous bid from a friendly Australian which has also tipped us over the £500 mark, this is an absolutely joyous day. And to add a gracious cherry on top I've had confirmation of two crew who are able to join me on this project to get this production made to a higher standard without so much of a struggle as before, so I'd like to welcome Amy and George to the team. This does of course mean increased costing so for the rest who haven't managed to get around to sponsoring yet, youv.e still time! Please don't forget that the amount of money raised can go way over the estimate and the amount stated is only the bare minimum (which doesnt actually nearly cover costs)

The additions to the team could mean a behind the scenes film being shot alongside the actually documentary to compliment the filming process...exciting times!
