Story
Greg Jones, a local fisherman, finds his best friend Shane is in debt to his boss, an aquarium owner, Paul Douglas. They become more desperate for the money and come up with the plan of stealing the heaviest bass fish in the aquarium. They enter it into a fishing competition, hoping to win the prize money to pay back the debt to Paul. Paul is the sponsor of the fishing competition and has donated the prize money himself. The night before the competition Greg and Shane easily steal the fish; however Shane drops the bag fatally injuring the fish. After entering the fish as an almost clear winner, they are caught out by Paul, who was eagerly awaiting the announcement of a winner after recognizing the bass that Greg and Shane submitted.

Locations
Below: a video documentary of the crew's trip to our filming locations in West Wales.
- Machynlleth:
We our locating Greg's house in a cottage in the small village of Forge just outside of the town of Machynlleth. It is important for us to create the impression of a close-nit community and we feel that this location will be perfect for this.
- Aberdovey:
We are filming in the idyllic seaside town of Aberdovey in the West Coast of Wales. We chose the town due to it's close fishing community and it's quaintness. The town is located 10 miles outside of Machynlleth.
Total Breakdown
Overall budget: £1,200
Provided by Crew: £700
Provided by funding: £500
- £400 Transport
Our main expense for transport is getting our cast and crew (totaling 11 people) between our Unit Base in Machynlleth to our main filming location of Aberdovey everyday. (For 4 days shooting in Aberdovey transport will cost £230 in total)
Other transport expenses are:
Actors travel to Newport
Aquarium location-hunting petrol costs
£40 to get our driver to and from our Machynlleth location after returning the minibus at the start of the week and picking it back up at the end (as we have found that our University will not allow us to have it for more than a day.
- £250 Art Department
£90 budget for costume
£160 budget for propsAs our writer Andy explains in the pitch video, creating a realistic environment for the fishing community is very important to us. This includes using specialist costume and props to create the sense of a fishing community. Another obvious expense will be the prop fishes, especially buying the large prize-winning fish.
- £200 Living Costs for Cast & Crew
As our shoot involves a full cast & crew travelling away from where we are based to the shoot location, living costs will be steep. For instance instead of just providing lunch for the cast and crew we will have to provide full days worths of food and drink.
- £350 Camera Lens Hire
One of our main improvements we wanted to make with our last film (Miles to Go) was the picture quality. We can use lights and cameras from our University, but we would like to be able to afford to get high quality lenses to get a high picture quality. We are filming in such beautiful locations and we want to do them justice with stunning Cinematography.
Our visit to the West Wales locations
Below is a video we put together after filming our time spent in West Wales. It was a great visit and we cannot wait to go back to the beautiful locations to make a film.
Today we travelled north west to Aberdovey and Machynlleth in West Wales. During the visit we spoke to the locals to let them know about our plans to film there in a few weeks, and took some photos for our campaign. The whole crew fell more and more in love with our locations as we explored them further. We visited everywhere that had potential to be of interest to us, finding hidden gems around corners and coves in the form of Fishing Tackle Shops and gorgeous Boatyards. Here are some photos from our visit, we hope you find the scenary as beautiful as we did and that you can envisage the scenes of the film unfolding there.
