"Prisoner 66" is a short film set within the Star Wars universe written and directed by Matt Thompson and Kas Latif.
The film is about a Jedi who is diagnosed with an unknown virus that has previously infected and violently killed over sixty Jedi in the past. The other Jedi and medical staff, in the facility where he is being held, are still none the wiser to the cause of the illness and prepare for his inevitable death. The film follows Prisoner 66's struggle as the virus completely takes over his body and mind, killing him only for him to be reborn as a Sith. Now fuelled with evil intent we see Prisoner 66 break free from his restraints and attempt to escape the facility.
We feel that it is rare to come across fan films that are genuinely popular and tick all the boxes.
Our goal is to ensure that we look as the project from film directors' perspectives and stick to core film making principles to make not only a successful fan film but also a successful film in its own right that appeals to a wider audience. We hope to have the film showcased at film/Star Wars festivals around the country…(and who knows, maybe even the world!)
WHO ARE WE?
Westfield Films is a collective of creative individuals working together to produce films, music videos, documentaries and comedy sketches. We are a small team based in Manchester, UK and we are avid Star Wars fans.
For us, this is something we have always wanted to see - a violent and aggressive transition from Jedi to Sith, rather than an emotional one such as we see in "Star Wars: Episodes 1-3" with Anakin becoming Darth Vader. It is our first major project and we thought what better way to kick things off than with a Star Wars Fan Film!
WHAT DO WE NEED?
We have loads of positive minded people on board, working for free and running purely off their enthusiasm for the project. (especially the Star Wars Fans). This runs from cast and crew members to concept artists.
However, we can't do everything for free! The funds we raise will be used to secure a talented visual effects artist, lighting equipment, catering budget and film festival applications.
Location wise we hope to build a set and film at the Zion Arts Centre in Hulme. The centre was established in 1911 and has always been a hub of inner city creativity specialising in performing arts. We also will use your kind donations for the set construction, props and wardrobe.
WHY GET INVOLVED?
This is a great opportunity for all lovers of film and/or Star Wars to get involved in an EPIC fan film. We hope to find more like-minded positive and enthusiastic people to come on board and help make this dream a reality. In return for your support, we will be offering limited edition Prisoner 66 collectables such as signed artwork and t-shirts.
We are also offering the chance to meet cast and crew members - including
-The writer/directors Matt Thompson and Kas Latif
-Additional writer Ty Glover
-Professional make-up artist Alex Williams (taking a break from Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" (new Alien film) to come and work with us!)
-Concept artists Kai Bainbridge, Dean Alderson and Leah Revington
-Executive producer Carl Whitley (Zombie Aid / Order 69)
-Director of photography Simon Robertshaw
-Sound Engineer Matthew Faggiani (Red Harvest / Oh My God Promos / Zero:State Hollywood music video)
+ many more interesting and talented people!
