Hello and welcome to our campaign page for our first feature film 'Limbo'.
'Limbo' is an original British romantic comedy set in Purgatory, where Purgatory just so happens to look exactly like Croydon.
The story so far...
The film making team behind 'Limbo' have collaborated on numerous short films over the years and we were immensely proud when 'Billy: Thoughts of a Substitute' was selected for an official screening at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011. Since then, we have been readying ourselves for our first feature film. As part of the development of 'Limbo' we shot a version of the first 12 minutes of the script. Please check it out:
We showed this 'teaser' to potential investors and collaborators and now we are close to making it happen, but we need your help for the final push!
The Target
We need to top up our budget by £15,000 to cover the post production work including, music, editing and grading, and also to cover the filming costs and rights for a very important concert scene in which the Eurovision winning song 'Love Shine a Light' by Katrina and the Waves is being performed by the choir in Purgatory.
Synopsis
People have misconceptions about purgatory. It may surprise you to hear that there is no fire and brimstone and whipping in caves. No. There are houses and shops and an excellent tram link. So after checking in at reception, all new arrivals are given a job and a £200 ‘welcome package’ with compliments from the Almighty Lord. Let the waiting begin...
Whilst in Limbo, it’s advised to try and get on with your new housemates, even if they are weirdos because who knows how long the wait for salvation will be? Purification from a lifetime of venial sins can take time after all. Good deeds can speed up the application process, bad, lengthen. Extreme bad (mortal sins) can lead to immediate expulsion to the dark depths below..
'Limbo’ is an original comedy drama that follows the arrival and journey of Luke as he attempts to come to terms with his afterlife. To help him on his way are his new housemates, Jin, a samurai from 17th century Japan, and Abby, a stunning backing dancer for a 90’s pop group. With a supporting cast of angels, demons and a pretty library assistant, Luke quickly learns that purgatory isn’t just about the waiting. It’s about complicated things like friends, enemies, landlords, wrong decisions and broken hearts.
Life in the afterlife is quickly turned on its head when Luke becomes curious and searches for answers. He wants to know why he has ended up in limbo? He wants to ask The Department of Purification and Consequence of Sin (DOPACOC) when he can enter heaven? He wants to know why angels are treating Abby so badly and why are demons and Buddhist samurais even allowed in purgatory?
Our three heroes become embroiled in an ancient rivalry and find themselves challenging the very foundations of everything holy and unholy, of heaven, hell and Croydon.
Limbo is a comic re-examination of human nature and modern morals. It’s a study of the varied belief systems that have run from the birth of society, set not in a world of relics or bonnets but in a world of living rooms and restaurants, choir practice and trams. As the story climaxes, Luke is faced with the ultimate question: Should he commit a mortal sin to save his friends? Or should he leave them for eternal happiness in heaven?
The Plea
We genuienely can't make this film without your help. We know that £15,000 is a lot, and we know that times are tough which is why every donation will be greatly appreciated. If we manage to raise over our target please rest assured that that money will be put straight back into the film. If you can't donate then please do pass this link on to anyone who may be interested in helping us.
We thank you for your time and generosity and look forward to seeing you in Purgatory soon.
