TRIPTYCH
28-30 CLARENDON ROAD LS2 9NZ, 8th-11th JUNE 2012
TRIPTYCH is the student led Fine Art Degree Show from the University of Leeds. With the artists themselves working as curators, marketers and fundraisers, the title TRIPTYCH represents how three studios have worked together to organise the show and fulfil the potential of the venue.
The group are keen to put on an exhibition that will give them experience as artists and curators soon to be working outside of the institution. Aware of the local art scene and projects such as ‘Art in unusual spaces’, TRIPTYCH is set in an ex-university research centre on Clarendon Road. This challenging space is a labyrinth of connecting rooms and corridors, which the artists are transforming into a series of differing and stimulating experiences.
Because of the nature of the Degree Show and the diversity of practice, the show’s curation concentrates on placing works together that complement each other, rather than works of the same medium. Additionally many artists are undertaking short residencies in the space during the weeks preceding the exhibition in order to create site-specific works. The show features work from many artists who have exhibited locally and internationally; amongst others, Naomi Tattum recently exhibited at the Nexus art café in Manchester, Rebecca Bennett and Rhiannon Lewis exhibited in Elogio dell’Arte “Identita europea in Milan, artist group Topical Jungle are shortlisted for the Woolgather Art Prize 2012 and Suzi Osborn was published in Aesthetica works annual.
We are currently looking for funding for this show, if you are willing to contribute please do.
Thank You!
