SYNOPSIS
Shno, a young woman is locked in a world she craves to break free from. A world of class, culture and traditions to which she must conform to in modern London. Can her family accept her free spirit or will she chose to accept her family wishes? Harem, Shno’s brother, is in the living room of the house watching a football match, his Mother is taking measurements of Shno to make her a new dress – a dress for the forthcoming Kurdish community’s annual party. This should be a joyful moment in the family’s life, but a simple call for a glass of water, turns their world upside down ending up in a disastrous situation.
THE TRUE MEANING
This film is inspired by the story of many women longing for their freedom, for their basic human rights to be able to have a choice.
Shno, the protagonist of our film is one of these women who want to break away from the slavery cage of patriarchal society. She is determined to fight for her freedom, to win her rights to make decisions for herself, but does she really win?
THE TEAM
Karzan Krekar Sherabayani is a London based filmmaker who has directed and produced several documentary films which were commissioned and screened by major broadcasters in many countries around the world. A Glass of Water is Karzan's first short film As a writer, Karzan has written scripts for feature films as well as a few stage plays such as Asylum Project and City of Peace.
Natasha Forrester is a creative producer, who's worked in many different areas of film and TV. Her experience is built up of short films, corporate and music videos, working on projects that have been broadcasted on MTV Base, AKA and television series' such as Britain's Got Talent.
Angela Fealy has been in the film and theatre industry since 2002, working on soap opera's, films and music videos. She has since then created and directs Famous Film Event, an industry networking event in London. Her credits comprise of award winning A Man Called Stan, What Time Is Eat and Romance Language.
HOW WILL THIS FUNDING HELP US?
All money raised will go towards the logistics, expenses, production and post production elements of this film. All contributions towards A Glass of Water shall be seen on screen, resulting in a professional and creative production. So far we have managed to get some generous help from those interested. For example, one of our locations was offered to us at a highly discounted rate.
THE PRODUCTION
Our film shall be shot over 3 days in the last week of September 2011. The story will be filmed in two locations. We shall be shooting with an experienced Cinematographer who will help to bring out the specific look and feel we need to help tell this story.
