An ambitious & exciting new film project to give a professional film making experience to University students; the medieval drama 'Elfrida'!
WHO WE ARE
We are the University of Southampton student television station, SUSUtv (www.susu.tv) and even though the University doesn't run any kind of practical film studies or performing arts course, many of our members go on to build careers in the film and TV industry.
But without any sort of medium to gain practical film making experience, it is extremely hard to break into this highly competitive industry.
The aim of this project is to provide that experience. With a core cast & crew of 40 volunteer students from various groups across the University, including the theatre society, music departments, horse riding club, history society and SUSUtv, we have taken on our most ambitious project yet - a medieval drama.
To do this, we need funding. The University has already very generously donated some money towards this project and has enabled us to get some of the filming and pre-production work done already, but we still need your help!
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Based on a true events that took place around the Hampshire area, ‘Elfrida’ tells the story of a woman’s quest for revenge after the brutal murder of her lover at the hands of a King.
It is an original script researched and written by students at the University and was pitched as part of a competition to find the best script for this project. It was chosen as the winner back in September 2012 and pre-production started soon after.
Led by a production team of 5 student producers, a crew was found and a cast auditioned and by November 2012 rehearsals had started.
Over the next several months we set about securing initial funding, finalising the script, rehearsing with the actors, and storyboarding the scenes, eventually coming together for our first shoot in the New Forest and then for 3 days at Allington Castle in Maidstone, Kent (see photos).
THE DONATIONS & REWARDS
In return for supporting our project, you will receive a whole range of exclusive rewards, from your name up on the big screen, to an advanced copy of the DVD to unique movie merchandise, so don’t miss your chance to snap up these goodies!
