We are very excited to be recording our debut album late this year at Angel Studios! The album, to be entitled 'Something's Coming', will feature Callum’s new West Side Story Suite for Big Band - a continuous work in six movements based on six melodies from Leonard Bernstein's famous show: Something's Coming; Maria; Cool; Somewhere; America; and Tonight. In addition to the suite, we will be recording a set of new commissions: both from current bandmembers Freddie Gavita and Callum Au; and from UK flute virtuoso and master composer Gareth Lockrane.
Appearing as special guests with the band on this album will be vocalists Emma Smith and Anthony Strong, flautist Gareth Lockrane, and leading UK saxophonist Nigel Hitchcock. The album will be engineered and mixed by Steve Price, and mastered by Ian Cooper - two of the country’s most renowned sound and audio engineers. The album general release will be on 23rd January 2013.
The full personnel list for this session will be:
Woodwinds: Lucas Dodd (Soprano/Alto Saxes); Jim Gold (Soprano/Alto Saxes); Simon Marsh (Tenor Sax, Flute, Clarinet); Tommy Laurence (Tenor Sax); Richard Shepherd (Baritone Sax, Bass Clarinet, Clarinet), Gareth Lockrane (Flutes, Piccolo), Nigel Hitchcock (Solo Alto Sax)

Any project for large jazz ensemble takes a huge amount of liquid capital to get it off the ground: we are creating this page to help with getting this together. As you can see, we have set a very small financial target on this page, which we hope will be met many times over: the more money we can raise, the easier it will be for us to produce this album, and the better the final product will be! Think of your donation as a pre-order; but as the sort of pre-order that comes with substantial added extras that you wouldn't get by buying the album in a normal context - details of which can be found in the Rewards section!
The owner of this project has not made any updates yet.
