The Boy with a Camera for a Face is a quirky indie fairytale about the dangers of living vicariously through television. It follows the adventures of our eponymous hero as he struggles to deal with the trials and tribulations of living with a camera for a head - from being bullied as a child, rejected as a teenager, and eventually being given his own live reality show. He finally finds love in the form of a girl whose face is blurred, but is their love strong enough to survive the scrutiny of a world that does nothing but watch their unfolding relationship?
The film began life as a beat poem in my stand-up comedy (performed at the Edinburgh Festival) and evolved into what is looking to be an incredible short film, thanks to an amazing cast and crew. Filming is now completed but we're looking for your contributions (in return for some great rewards) to pay for finishing costs (building sound up from scratch /recording a proper voice over / post/ grade etc).
The film is written and directed by Spencer Brown, the DP is the brilliant Chris Moon (who is currently also DPing his first feature film, Dreck - click here to see some more of his work), and the design is by Ollie Tiong, who has created an amazing world for the film including building a brilliant working camera head. We've filmed on the Arri Alexa, and the footage is looking fantastic, even ungraded as you can see from the trailer above. The movie will be silent with a voice over and music from McLord Magrao from The Guillemots.
