I HAVE JUST RECEIVED CONFIRMATION THAT THE IMAGES WILL NOW ALSO BE EXHIBITED IN BELFAST IN A CROSS-COMMUNITY PLACE BETWEEN THE SHANKHILL AND THE FALLS!

A series of images were created at Stormont, Queens University, Milltown Cemetery, the Pecae Wall and Crumlin Road Jail. The models were styled in block colours, reflective of either the Union Jack or Tricolour flags, and therefore suggestive of either the Protestant or Catholic identities. By placing the models at historically significant places relevant to the divide in the country between the Catholic and Protestant people, I hope to challenge the automatic stereotypes associated with these colours and the assumptions the Northern Irish people often make concerning strangers based on the various hints at either a Catholic or Protestant persuasion.
So much violence has occurred over the years in regards to these identities and the generational hatred that has been passed on through the ages. This photoshoot aims to support the idea of reconciliation between these opposed communities, in a bid for peace and a permanent sectarian ceasefire in Northern Ireland.
The money I raise will be used to pay for my prints and promotional material at my Graduate Show opening on June 1st 2012 in Newport, a requirement to pass my last module.
This year Newport celebrates 100 Years of Photography and so many professionals within the industry will be attending the exhibiton and thus viewing my work. This project is very important to me and deals with a topic very close to my heart. After the Graduate show, the images will be exhibited in Cardiff, and I plan to try and exhibit the images in Northern Ireland aswell.
