Throughout the year we have been planning a number of exciting student-led events.  It is now time to realise them and we very much hope that our alumni community (and others!) will support us in doing so.
Below is a brief description of each event. Please choose which event you would like to donate to by selecting from the list on the right hand side.

We will appreciate any donation and also hope to see many alumni at the events!

9 June 2012 - TEDx Oxbridge

TEDx Oxbridge is an annual event, shared between Cambridge University and Oxford University, organized by MBA students at the Said and Judge Business Schools. The first event, held at Oxford in spring 2011, was a great success. This year the event will be in Cambridge and the TEDx Oxbridge team has been working hard to make the 2012 event bigger and better!
Unconventional Wisdom, the theme for 2012, reflects the optimism of those who defy convention, take risks, rewrite the rules, innovate, and dare to change the world.
Speakers include includes Shai Resheif (founding president of the University of the People), Rahul Panicker (CTO of Embrace Global), Alastair Humphreys (one of National Geographic's Adventurers of the Year), and our very own Andrew Hanson (founder of Men Against the Trafficking of Others).
See TEDx Oxbridge’s website for more information.

Cambridge Africa Business Network (CABN)

The CABN is a newly formed student and alumni-led network whose aim is to promote networking and dialogue about business in Africa in Cambridge. The CABN recently held its first conference at Judge Business School themed Unlocking Value in Frontier Africa. The conference was a great success and included a fantastic line-up of experts from business, finance, academia and government including the former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo. The CABN would like to ensure that next year's students can continue the work they have initiated and all contributions will go towards pursuing the objectives of the CABN:

  • Creating linkages with African universities in order to promote business education, entrepreneurship and innovation.
  • Cultivating new networks between investors including those in Cambridge’s Silicon Fen and African-based entrepreneurs and managers.
  • Promoting best practices in business leadership in Africa.

For more information please see www.africanetwork.jbs.cam.ac.uk

The theme for the CSCB this year is ‘continuity’. We want to make sure that next year’s class can build on top of what we have achieved this year rather than starting from scratch. This means that our focus is on ensuring a proper hand over. It also means that any excess donations will be passed over to the next CSBC executive committee.

Please note that of the money donated 2.9% + 20p per transaction will go to Paypal. 4% of the funds raised will be paid as a fee to www.sponsume.com
