The aim of GO OPERA is to target people that wouldn’t normally consider a night at the opera an enjoyable distraction from the hustle and bustle of city life. At GO, we choose the best bits of the best operas, condense them to around 80 minutes and sandwich the show with drinks and general good humour. It promises to be an immersive experience, one that blurs the boundaries between reality and the imaginary, between performer and observer.
Our inaugural production is to take place in June of this year in an warehouse location in Hackney Wick. Featuring some of London's emerging opera stars, this site-specific production is a radical reworking of one of the most famous operas of all time – Verdi’s La Traviata. GO TRAVIATA will bring this 19th Century tragedy into the 21st Century, presenting an exciting new adaptation of the piece to fit within 80 minutes.
We recognise that live opera is as much about the immediacy of the spectacle as it is about the quality of the music. To this end, we combine innovative staging with multimedia technology to create contemporary productions that grab the attention of the modern spectator. Furthermore, we aim to act as a springboard into the world of professional Opera for young singers by showcasing their extraordinary talent and helping them on their way towards a glittering career!
We are hugely grateful for any support you may be able to give us. Thank you for making this a reality - you're going to love it!
