IMPORTANT UPDATE: I had what I think is a good idea last night. So here it is.
For every pledge, from now until the campaign closes, of £25 or more to help get our film made we will DONATE £5 towards CHILDLINE a UK charity helpline giving children somewhere to turn if they are being abused or bullied. So help us make a moving film and help CHILDLINE continue their great work.
DAD’ is a short film that tells the story of Ryan, a middle aged man who needs to put to rest the ghosts from his childhood. The hardest memory for Ryan to deal with is of his father’s abusive relationship with him.
Finally finding the courage to face the man who ruined his life and reconnect with his family, after many years of estrangement, Ryan finds himself with one more hurdle to climb.
His dad died six months ago.
OUR GOAL
Our goal for DAD is to enter into festivals in 2013, more specifically BAFTA recognised ones. The reason for this is our long term goal for DAD is to enter the BAFTA shorts the following year in 2014.
A WORD FROM OUR DIRECTOR: Alan Campbell
I'm Alan Campbell, Filmmaker, blogger and Tech enthusiast. I'm a filmmaker based in Leicester who'll be taking on the role of Director on 'Dad' As a filmmaker I’ve always been hugely interested in the ideas of redemption and forgiveness. Dad gives me a chance to seriously look into the idea of forgiveness, what it takes too forgive someone that has seriously wronged you and whether you even should.
I think the story is a very powerful one and not afraid to pull any punches or baby the audience. It's very different from most short films I've read over the last few years there are no guns or gangs. It touches on things that have happened to many people at some point in their life and if this can be of any help too them then who can ask for more.
The film may well split some of the audience and that's what all great films do. It has some very dark moments but at the same it’s quite inspirational I hope the audience just enjoy the film through all of its ups and downs and in the end come to some decisions of their own.
My taste in film is quite broad but I have been a huge fan of Japanese and Korean cinema for as long as I remember, I love the fact that they're not afraid to look at subjects that more mainstream cinema wouldn't go anywhere near, It keeps things interesting.
That's me summed up in a few lines so I'll stop boring you now. I really look forward to working on the project and I hope you'll all follow along with us.

To be honest I don't much like talking about myself, and my career pretty much speaks for itself. As to why I want to be attached to the project: I like the script, I like the idea, I think it could be interesting and fun and gives me a character to play I haven't done before and for me its all about the variety and the challenge.
WHAT WE NEED THE MONEY FOR
Production costs range from insurance right down to feeding the crew and actors on set, just to name but a few.
Everybody connected to the film from the Director to the Runners are giving their time and talent freely, some travelling great distance at their own expense, so all the money raised can go towards the production of a film that everyone believes in.
The owner of this project has not made any updates yet.
