About my project
FINAL DAY!! Please share and tweet!
I plan to get some of my artworks printed onto cards so that I can display these at art and craft fairs that I go to throughout the year and to sell in local shops and venues. This will give people the opportunity of buying smaller and more affordable images of my work. To support the project I have decided to use crowdfunding to give people the chance to order the cards at a lower price than I'll be selling them at the art fairs and this includes delivery to their front door too. (UK only) I'm also offering a few other special rewards in return for your support.
About me
I have wanted to be an artist ever since I can remember. As an 'A' grade student in art & textiles at school, I moved into photography, film and video at college. I then went on to study Time Based Media at Hull School of Art where I also studied performance and sound art alongside the film and video. Sadly, due to the circumstances at the time, it meant I could not complete the course. The creation of art went out of my life completely for many years until I realised I could not continue to live without it in my life. And I wanted to live.
When I first started making artwork again I went back to drawing and painting. However the last time I had painted it was heavily influenced by studies, still lives and realism. Now I suddenly wanted to use it to express everything that I was feeling with a sardonic twist. This was miles away from painting sheep's skulls and bowls of fruit. To start with I could only work with black and white, but over time colour returned to my work. But I was taking huge amounts of time producing large oil paintings from my sketches and wanted to find a smaller way of satisfying my creative urge. My work now had a clear style which seemed to have developed out of nowhere. I had done some silk painting in the past and found my style really worked with that medium. And I could keep up with producing the amount of images that where in my head.
I am currently working with silk paints and lino prints, as my work also works well with the strong black and white contrasts. My work is mainly figurative and features themes of the supression of women, domestic violence, love, romance, hate, depression and trauma. But I have also diversified into illustration for a book that I've written - below!
I have exhibited in various venues locally and in London. The latest London exhibition was part of the Parallax Art Fair in La Galleria in Pall Mall. And my work has been sold in the UK and abroad.
I have also written and illustrated a book called 'The Cat Inspector' which is available to buy on Amazon and has also been released as an ebook in the itunes bookstore. This features my silk paintings as illustrations.
You can find more about me and my work by following my facebook page or my website www.katyfryd.co.uk. And you are also welcome to follow me on twitter.
The Cards
The cards feature my flower paintings - these are smaller experimental studies that may feature in larger figurative studies in the future.
All printed cards will be with envelopes and in cellophane for protection. The cards measure 10.5 x 15 cm approx. They are blank inside for your own message.
The card design choices for your pledge rewards are:
#1 - Lily
#2 - Orange/Pink rose
#3 - Blue Pink Rose
#4 - Freesia
You will need to tell me your preferred card choices or you will get an approximately equal amount of each.
Other info.
I have various ideas and plans that I would like to work on so if I do reach my target please do not let that stop you from buying more. All money raised will go towards one of my projects.
Sponsume don't just accept paypal, so this will hopefully make it easier to buy the rewards. You will need to fill in your address details so that I know where to send the rewards to.
And do get in contact at if you have any questions or ideas for a reward I haven't thought of.
I really appreciate your support.
Thank you x
