Once upon a time on the border (Érase una vez en la frontera) es un cortometraje que revive y celebra los grandes clásicos del Oeste. Basada en un guión premiado, este cortometraje narra el curioso encuentro de un rudo cazarrecompensas y un veterano alguacil de fronteras.  The cazarrecompensas asegura traer el cadáver de Abrevadero Joe, legendario criminal buscado por la ley, pero el guarda se muestra reacio a creer que el temido bandido haya sido atrapado.  Una tensa e imprevisible trama seguirá...

Tomando como inspiración a los maestros del género (Leone, Ford, Eastwood, Mann...), Once upon a time on the border es una narración del salvaje Oeste atractiva e inteligente.  Su rodaje está planificado para agosto tardío de 2012, en el cinematográfico paraje de las Bardenas Reales, que guarda un sorprendente parecido con el desértico Suroeste estadounidense.  

El equipo tras este proyecto lo lidera Álvaro Hernández en calidad de guionista y director.  Sus anteriores trabajos incluyen el aclamado corto de cine negro La Visita de Medrano.  Estefanía Lamas  ejerce las labores de producción, respaldada por Alejandro Pardo y el Departamento de Cultura y Comunicación Audiovisual de la Universidad de Navarra.  Álvar Carretero de la Fuente se encargará de la dirección artística, y Lucas Malcorra, frontman del grupo revelación Joe la Reina, aportará su talento a la banda sonora.

Once upon a time on the border is a short film that revives and celebrates the spirit of the most beloved western classics.  Based on an award-winning script, this short film narrates the unlikely encounter of a fearsome bounty hunter and an old frontier guard.  The bounty hunter claims he brings back the body of the legendary wanted criminal Trough Gun Joe, but the experienced guard is reluctant to believe the feared desperado has finally been caught.  A tense and unexpected tale of deceit ensues...  

Drawing inspiration from the masters, (Leone, Ford, Eastwood, Mann...),  Once upon a time on the border is a truly cunning and compelling tale of the Wild West.  It is to be shot in August 2012, in the cinematic landscape of Bardenas Reales, where the landscape bears an impressive ressemblance to the American Southwest.  

The team behind this project is lead by writer and director Alvaro Hernandez, whose past works include the acclaimed noir short,  La Visita de Medrano.  Producer Estefania Lamas backs the project along with the Department of Communication and Audiovisual Culture at the University of Navarra.  Álvar Carretero de la Fuente will be in charge of the artistic direction, while Lucas Malcorra, the lead singer and guitarist of the rising Spanish folk band Joe la Reina will provide the soundtrack.
