The Play
We are a new theatre company, founded in 2012, and dedicated to producing exciting new adaptations of classic European plays, to tour the UK and Europe.
Our first production will be "Miss Julie" Strindberg's masterpiece written in 1888; a tale of lust, class conflict and boundaries broken, which was banned in the UK for 50 years when it was first written.
Our production will be the World Premiere of a brand new translation from the original Swedish, which we have been working on for the past 8 months as part of Strindberg 2012 (the centenary of his death in 1912).
Who we are
We have built the company up from scratch this year and so far everyone involved in this project has given their time and energy for free.
We have a fantastic team of experienced, talented and commited professionals working on this who together have several decades of experience in the theatre, as actors, directors, designers and musicians. See our website for more info: www.uktouringtheatre.co.uk
The Tour
We have had a lot of interest in the production and have managed to put together a great tour in April-May 2013 - however as we don't currently receive any funding we need your help to make this happen!
The play will open at The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich on 16th April 2013 and then tour to theatres across the UK, including venues in London, Essex, Kent, Derbyshire and Devon. More to be announced soon!
Your Help
£4,000 will help pay for our set and costumes to be designed and built, and our posters and marketing to help sell the show to audiences.
We just need 400 people to give £10 each, or 160 people to give £25 each to make this project a success, and we will be extremely grateful for any extra support you can give us.
What we can offer you in return for your help
Everyone who helps us by donating to this project will receive an official thank you in the programme, as well as a thank you on our website and we will also add you to our mailing list to be kept up to date with the tour and everything the company is doing.
For people who want to donate more, there are a whole host of other thank you gifts, such a signed posters, programmes and free tickets to see the play.
Please support us
In these times of austerity and Arts Council cuts, please help us to reach our target and to help contribute to the future of British theatre.
We hope you enjoy the trailer for the play - and thank you so much for your support and interest!
