Lancaster Jazz Festival is an ever growing annual event held in various venues in the glorious city centre of Lancaster. We’re a user led, voluntary organisation that aims to programme inspiring events and performances both within the festival and year round, creating opportunities for artists to develop new, innovative and high quality music as well as supporting emerging talent from around the UK.
LJF2014 is a major step up from previous years - we’ve got two headline performances (the amazing Courtney Pine and Dennis Rollins), 102 musicians on 3 beautiful stages, loads of involvement from local businesses, Arts Council and PRSF funding for the first time and loads else.
What we need
We were well over capacity in some venues last year so we’re spreading out into the beautiful Sun Square right in the heart of Lancaster on Saturday 20th September. With no established venue there we need to build a pop up one in a single day. All the artists are paid for and the space is booked but we need £500 for all the boring stuff that comes hand in hand with making a stage happen.
This includes:
- Equipment Hire and Production
- Insurance
- Licensing
- Van Hire
We’ve got 3 years experience of making tiny amounts of money stretch a very very long way so even the smallest gift would be awesome.
The programme
It’s a great mix (if we say so ourselves) of musicians from just around to the corner to the other side of the country, some ridiculously talented people and an open access workshop:
11am - Off The Rails Workshop
12.45pm - Paul Edis Sextet
2.15pm - Off The Rails Performance
3.15pm - Slowlight Quartet
5pm - Samuel Eagles
