The film is a dark comedy set in and around Cheshire as we learn the story of two fathers, recently separated from their children and the course of action they take to get a bit of control in their lives. We are currently raising funds to get the edit of the film completed, so we can share our story with the world in the hope that it will highlight the difficultys we face in getting contact with our children and hopefully will help towards solving the issue.
What made me write a darkly comic superhero/heist movie? About seven years ago I had the misfortune of separating from my then partner and we had a 2 year old daughter together. The experiences that came from seeking to achieve good access gave me the idea to write a short comic film about the experiences that face us as parents when dealing with the issue of separation from our children. At this moment in time we have a wonderful production company over in Media City, Salford, Toasted Productions, ready to take our project into production, but we need to raise the funds and thats where hopefully you come in. Once its made we are going to submit to all the big film festivals around the world as we feel our film not only shares and explores what it is to be a parent in this situation, but also seeks to explore why when pushed to the boundaries of emotional patience, do people do such crazy things, for example climb Big Ben or break into Buckingham Palace, what is it that makes people do this? is it just for pure publicity or is it something else? What happens when all you love is taken away from you and all your powers are dwindled? Our film sheds light on these questions and hopefully is a heart warming darkly humorous tale about two normal guys and their quest to be reunited with their children.
We hope you will get behind our film and thank you for taking the time to view our page.
Richard Ellis (Oliver) Writer/Director
The two men are from different social backgrounds and a chance Fathers For Justice meeting throws them into a friendship that explores how being separated daily from your child affects you and the way the courts always seem to favour the Mother, regardless of situation, when it comes to custody.
The two men set out on an adventure that brings there friendship closer and gives them a taste of power in a world that seems to ignore Fathers rights. Simon Bugg and Richard Oliver are both Fathers who have been through the ordeal of being separated through court from their children although they are both good fathers and parents and hope to bring this film to the world to highlight that Fathers are just as important as the Mother when it comes to the issue of parenting when separated.
