Satan In A Sunday Hat was born from hearing the phrase in the popular HBO series 'True Blood'.
It sparked the idea of creating an album of dark cabaret songs sung from the point of view of the devil or from the point of view of an incredibly evil character.
I loved the idea of taking an evil concept/character and use the songs i've written, to create a kind of 'devils cabaret' or 'an evening with the devil'
if hell was real.. and if hell did indeed have entertainment... This is something i'd wish it was!
This CD is already in the pre-production meetings stage and is looking at an early 2013 completion of the project! With release in late February/early March (Exact date TBC)
My hope was to involve other creative music types i have met along my travels, to really get that variety feel i am trying to achieve within the product.
I have asked a few people to be involved on some songs.. and wonderfully they said YES! including the likes of Marcella Puppini (of The Puppini Sisters & The Forget Me Nots fame) Mishkin Fitzgerald (of Birdeatsbaby) and fresh faced dark cabaret newcomers 'Ribbon' (who i am vary passionate about... so i feel that including them in on this project would hopefully boost their own audience!). As well as a few other special guests.
The 'Satan In A Sunday Hat' CD will be recorded and produced alongside Sam Carter-Brazier of hard rock punk band 'Dead PinUps'. - My reasons for this are a few. Mainly because he is a long time friend, who i trust very much to take what i am creating and show it some love and passion. Another reason is because i want to have the ears of someone who is in no way affiliated with the cabaret world. Someone who can look at the product as a piece of music and tell me what he thinks, with open honesty.
My CD artwork will be done by the ever wonderful photographer and design wizz Scott Chalmers. Who has donated his time for nothing every time i have sent a project his way. With this one, i would like to give him something back for everything he has done for me. For all the artistic passion he has put in to help me make things happen in the past, regardless of financial gain.
All my previous CD releases have been self funded, with self organised rewards (early posting on pre orders, exclusive content and free giveaways).
I've been seeing so many wonderful artists use campaigns such as sponsume as a platform to create something that they perhaps couldn't afford themselves. With something that gives back to the people who have invested their money into the art.
This inspired me to think beyond my own small production budgets of a few hundred pounds - and made me feel like i could create something bigger and better, by using sponsume as a platform to involve other people into the production and creation of something that i feel so passionately about creating.
With the help of sponsume and with the help of all who donate,
I would be able to create over a period of a few months, something much wider than i would have been able to otherwise.
The money raised from sponsume would pay for -
• The recording, mixing and mastering of the product
* The printing of the product and the artwork
* Fund a professional music video to be produced
• Costs of guest artists on the album
* The licensing costs for the 2 cover songs i wish to place on to the album
* A small amount (if the full total was raised) would be put towards sending copies out to as many independant magazines, blogs and reviewers as i could find.
So to sum up why i have created this campaign,
It is because i want to create a project and a product bigger than anything else i could have created previously due to lack of financial backing.
I would love to be able to hold the product in my hands and say "So many people helped me to create this. it is a product of support and love from people who are passionate about creating music and art."
Thank you very much for reading this

Hello boys and girls!
It's been about 10 days since the sponsume campaign launched… and launched it did!
Within a few days i was over 60% funded! With many thanks to the generous donations i received! as well as the hundreds of people who reposted the campaign and shared the links with their friends, family and indeed in some cases… fans!
the support has been absolutely amazing.. and i can't thank people enough!
so…. the production itself!!
demos have indeed been recorded for most of the songs!
and we go into the studio to start laying the foundations, tomorrow! (tuesday 27th november 2012… eek!)
For the first time, i have actually gotten the legal permission to record and include COVERS on the album!
for those who have seen me live,
my shows tend to be half original and half covers.
So for the first time, i really wanted to include some of my favourite cover songs on to a CD.
I'll be posting some pictures and perhaps some video clips from the studio soon.
Maybe with a few cheeky clips of how the songs are coming along!
GUESTS. GUESTS… GUUUUUESSSTTTSSS.
i have rallied together a beautiful bunch of guest instrumentalists, voices and general wonderment for this project.
with hours of emailing back and forth and the deep delving into my phone book and email list, i have some wonderful friends contributing to this production.
the full list of guests and what they will be doing is as follows….
OH. btw. it says 'radio hosts'… let me explain!!!!
the idea of the cd was to be a kind of live show or broadcast from hell…
and in the spirit of a broadcast.. of course there would need to be hosts!
so i am very very grateful that these wonderful people have offered to lend their voices to the project.
Firstly….
OH MY GOTH! i hear you say? well..
Providing the voice of the MASTER OF CEREMONIES/INTRO is…..
Voltaire!!!
PLUS… (do check out their various bands/projects, as i have put what they do in the bands, next to their names!)
CONFIRMED 'RADIO HOSTS' -
Andrew O'Neill (Comedian & Guitarist/Vocals - The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing)
