For the first time in almost 16 years we are planning on entering the studio to record a brand new album, and we want you to be involved.
As you may know, since the last time we released a studio record we have all been working on various projects, and have outputted an array of releases, from solo records, to band projects, plus a whole bunch of other creative exploits too. These endeavors have also displaced us around the world; we have found new homes and built new careers spanning from the West Coast of America to Paris, France. In this time have all remained friends, and the future of The Hoax has always remained a topic of our conversations.
We have been asked many times over the last few years if we had plans to record fresh material, and it has always been something we wanted to do. Not only from a creative standpoint; but also due to the warmth and dedication we have received from everyone who has followed the band. The support we have continuously enjoyed has been overwhelming, from the early days of our first show in a small village hall in Wiltshire, England, to all the friends that joined us along the way, attending our 2000 or so gigs, in 18 different countries.
The few shows we have done in recent years has reminded us of what awesome and diverse people have embraced what we do, and helped keep the music of The Hoax alive.
It may seem a lifetime ago, but when we entered a cottage in the English countryside back in 1997 to record our last studio album Humdinger, we hooked up a dial up modem and kept an Internet diary of our recording session, posting pictures and updates of how things were going. Fast-forward to 2013 and the music industry has changed drastically, but the one thing the Internet has cemented, is that embracing of direct communication that we so enjoyed during those Humdinger sessions.
We couldn't think of a better way to make a new record than have you involved to help us make it happen, and when we discussed how to pull everything together, it was obvious that "crowd funding" was a perfect way to bring us, the band, and all of you, together to do it.
So here we go, join us by pledging on the various packages on offer and help us make an album we can all be proud of.
Your pledges will help bring the band together in Los Angeles to write and record an album of brand new material, document the whole process, and press up all the materials for the various packages on offer. If there is something you don't see, contact us with an offer and we will see what we can do.
If you can't pledge now don't worry, we will be touring in August and September and you will be able to get the album when it is released. However, you can still join in by spreading the word via Facebook, twitter, email, text, snail mail, carrier pigeon, smoke signals, telegram or good old word-of-mouth.

You guys did it!!!! we have met 100% of our goal in just over a week. We are deeply moved by such an enthusiastic response to this. We will be contacting everyone who has pledged on the specialist packages in order to get T-Shirt sizes etc and organize your lessons, and everything else.
We also want you to know that 100% of the money you pledge is going towards making the album the best it can be and the specialist packages the coolest they can be, we are not pocketing any of this ourselves.
As for the timeline we will be recording at the end of May/Early June so a reasonable expectation for all pledgers to receive the first to hear digital copies of the album, once it is all mixed and mastered, is likely later in July - but we will keep you all updated on the progress.
