“Gorgeous newgrassy treatment” - Folk and Roots
“The trio produced calming and mellifluous melodies… cleverly interspersed with jaunty, faster tempos… The North Atlantic Trio not only cleared my head but also moved my feet – a marvelous combination” - Three Weeks Edinburgh Fringe Review
North Atlantic Trio: American girl plays harp in mostly Scottish way with Scottish guy who plays dobro in mostly American way with Irish guy who plays percussion anyway. Combining tunes, songs and styles from Scotland, old-time Appalachian and bluegrass music; Cheyenne Brown, Dave Currie and Dave Boyd create a unique musical sensation of cross-genre bricolage. The pling of the harp in jigs and reels mingles with the slide of the dobro (a guitar with built-in metal resonator) in old-time backsteps and waltzes and all held together with a variety of innovative percussion, including bodhran, frame drums, and the unique Swiss hang.
The trio has played festivals in Germamy, Portugal and England, all with raving 'when is your album out?' responses. We figured the time was now to get this album recorded! The band has been using their own recording equipment and mixing facilities, but there are still mounting costs coming from the duplication process, artwork and marketing. By pre-ordering a CD from this site, you help us with the costs when we need it most - during the production of the CD - and you also become one of the first to receive the new production! There are other awards as well if you would rather contribute a bit more or less. We thank you immensely for your support and involvement and look forward to sharing the music with you!
