The Wireless Theatre Company is an online audio theatre company producing original radio drama, comedy, stories, poems, sketches and more to be downloaded free from our website to listener's iPods and MP3 players. We believe that the internet and our society's passion for downloading has given a new lease of life for radio drama and we producing exciting, edgy and consistently high quality radio drama which fits with what people expect from their entertainment today. We are hugely passionate about new writing and are proud to be a forum for writers from all over the world.
The company launched in 2007 and has grown rapidly since then - in 2011 the website attracted over 2.5 million hits and thousands of downloads from all over the world. The team have won several awards for their productions, including Best Entertainment Producer and Best Online Multi-Platform Creator at the 2011 Radio Production Awards and were recently accepted onto the BBC's Preferred Suppliers List.
We have worked with hundreds of actors and new writers, including Prunella Scales, Timothy West, Nicholas Parsons, Julian Glover, Rula Lenska, Mary Tamm, Richard O'Brien, Josephine Tewson, Ray Galton and more. We release at least one new production a month, created entirely by The Wireless Theatre Company team and three times a year we produce a live radio recording in London's West End attracting hundreds of audience members. In 2010 we launched Wireless Theatre Kids - bringing radio drama to children and alongside that Wireless Theatre In Education.
We offer our downloads mostly for free and are subsequently looking for sponsorship to help develop our website further. We have a large hit rate and a strong reputation within the industry, as well as high Google rankings and a large mailing list but our website needs big changes in terms of useability for it to keep up with the quality of our plays and for our visitors to access the plays with ease.
