New fringe theatre in London
The video shows one of our productions, which went on to a major national tour of large scale theatres. It was produced and rehearsed at the brand new Fringe Theatre in New Cross.The theatre is undergoing works. 60% of the conversion work has been done, including most internal alterations such as staging, lighting and sound box. The theatre just passed the fire brigade fire safety inspection and is at present in the process of obtaining full planning permission, which will be granted subject to an additional £20,000 pounds of work to improve disabled and wheelchair access to meet current building regulations.
A different kind of theatre
The venue is already operational as a rehearsal space and home to The London Comedy Course which teaches stand up comedy and the theatre company 'Shakespeare In the Park'. The licence for the theatre has already been obtained and we are looking at opening mid November.
Many London fringe theatres charge theatre companies £1000 to £2000 per week and we aim to be different and set our weekly hire charge at £350, meaning that at last theatre space becomes accessible to more production companies.
We also want to encourage companies who want to produce well known but hardly ever performed plays by the likes of Ibson, Pinter,Chekov etc which also gives actors a chance to be seen in some classic and meaty roles.
Who?
I am Harry, the artistic director here and I spent many years as a headline stand up comic for venues such as Jongleurs. I now teach for The London Comedy Course based here. I have produced plays at over 180 UK theatres with my biggest success being the aviation comedy 'Club Class' which is now playing in it's fifth year. I am also looking at new writers to showcase their plays at our new theatre and help them progress to larger venues.
How the funds will be used

In return for a donation of £25 you will get a three hour comedy class teaching you the secrets of stand up, perfect gift for the funny person in your life or a hour's 1 to 1 session with a casting director/ acting coach.

A part in a play
£150 or more : We are offering ten people the chance of a part in one of our own in - house productions, either at this venue with one of our own productions or on tour with 'Shakespeare in the Park' or with 'Club Class' the aviation comedy. You may even get a couple of lines or if we like what we see, a big role in another production. The lead in the large scale 'A Midsummers Night Dream' who plays Lysander had never acted before and came to us as a comedy course student and now plays the role to 400/1000 people per night, so we are good at spotting talent. This is for a walk on/ minor role but you will get full credit and a programme entry with piccy and able to say you were performing in a professional production.

Discount of hiring theatre for your own production
£300 or more : Although we are half to one third the cost of other London fringe theatres, we would still like to offer a further discount to you for your support. If you want to produce a play and it falls within our artistic policy of well known plays which hardly ever get performed or have a play from a new writer. This is the ideal venue for your project to get off the ground and we are offering you the theatre for 6 shows over a period of a week (in all London Fringe Theatres, a week is usually Tues to Sun). We can also advise you on marketing and casting and staging if required.
