In July this year, a group of 20 young people aged 14 - 20 from Knowsley will be descending upon Stratford Upon Avon to bring Shakespeare's romantic comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream to The Dell stage at the Royal Shakespeare Company! The young people and staff team are all giving their time voluntarily and are busy rehearsing for the performance of their lives.
We're all so excited to perform in such an esteemed venue and fulfill every actor's dream of performing at the RSC. This is a huge opportunity for all of the young people involved. Knowsley- as an area - is one of the most socially and economically deprived in Europe, however what we do have here is young people with huge amounts of passion, commitment, talent and dedication - and we at Altru do our best to give them the most amazing, inspiring experiences that will add to their CVs, give them a real taste of the creative industries and , of course, live in their hearts and memories for a long time to come.
We believe that young people with confidence, self belief and a range of positive life experiences turn into brilliant, well rounded adults who can make a positive contribution to our communities and society. We'd love it if you could help in any way make this brilliant experience happen for this fantastic group of young people.
We're going to Stratford Upon Avon on the 13th July, and our performances in The Dell - the RSC's open air theatre space - take place on the 14th July. When we get back to Merseyside we'll be doing a performance somewhere closer to home too. Your contributions will help to fund our travel and accomodation in Stratford Upon Avon as well as paying for some costume and props for the show.
